Engines On Site at Substation 12

Casey Industrial is rapidly moving into the next phase of construction at one of our project sites for the City of Tallahassee.

Last week, the first of two Wärtsilä natural gas-fired reciprocating engines was delivered to the Substation 12 site. These massive engines weigh over 310,000 pounds each and required over eight hours to transfer from the rail yard, where they arrived in Tallahassee, and unload at the project site, less than 10 miles away. Substation 12 will provide increased reliability to the current system and back-up power in the event of an outage. Casey expects commercial operation to begin this summer.

Casey Industrial has mobilized to Tallahassee, Florida to commence construction of a project for the City of Tallahassee. This project involves work at two sites – Substation 12 and A.B. Hopkins Generating Station. At Substation 12, Casey will install two clean natural gas-fired 34SG Wärtsilä Reciprocating Engines to increase reliability, improve efficiency, and reduce environmental impact to meet customer demand. Casey will install four clean natural gas-fired 50SG Wärtsilä Reciprocating Engines (72 MW total) at the existing Hopkins site to replace less efficient units.

Casey has extensive experience with Reciprocating Engines, having installed over 100 units to date throughout the United States. We are excited to bring our expertise to Florida, and look forward to performing a successful project for the City of Tallahassee.

Construction for both sites is underway, allowing for the plants to be commercially operational by October 2018 (Substation 12) and January 2019 (Hopkins).

Dan has over 20 years of international heavy industrial construction experience in the fields of mining, metals, process, chemicals, power, and highways.

Prior to joining Casey Industrial Dan held several corporate roles with his prior company, overseeing industrial capital and maintenance projects throughout the United States and Australia. He brings an expertise and background in multiple industries and delivery methods that parallel and align with the core focus of Casey Industrial.

As Senior Operations Director, Dan oversees projects throughout the continental United States. Currently, he is focused on the successful execution of CalPlant I’s Rice Straw MDF Plant in California.

Dan holds a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering from Exeter University in the United Kingdom.

Casey Industrial is proud to announce their participation in the largest lift in the company's history. SMS Meer is providing the world's largest forging press to Weber Metals, an aerospace component manufacturer based in Paramount, California. Casey is performing the press assembly, piping, and electrical work and executed the foundation beam lift which weighs almost 4.5 million pounds and is the largest module. The press will weigh over 9,000 tons - more than the weight of the Eiffel Tower - when fully assembled and is estimated to be complete in the first quarter of 2018.
