A Mission of Safety

Iamsafe2The Casey safety program is built on 100% employee involvement driven from all levels. If you ask anyone in the organization who is responsible for safety they should say, “I am”. We feel that in order to be effective on safety or any other areas of operational excellence then we must plan our work. Plan the work and work the plan. It is about accountability being driven by expectations for each level of the company from the Senior Leaders and Supervisors through entry level craft. We look for the root cause of injuries through both leading indicators from our craft observation process addressing behaviors and lagging indicators discovered through our management review of incidents in an effort to continually improve. We are on a “Journey to Excellence in Safety” to be the best of the best for the well being of all employees at Casey.

The safety philosophy of Casey is about accountability driven by expectations for each level of the company from the Senior Leaders and Supervisors through entry level craft. Safety performance is monitored at the corporate and project levels through our Safety Leadership Team process and Project Manager Score Card. All Serious Near Misses and any Doctor Cases are reviewed by corporate senior management. The projects monitor their process weekly through the Safety Leadership Team made up of the project's key managers. The Project Manager reports to the Division Vice President and Corporate Safety the project’s performance metrics on leading indicators using the Project Manager Score Card.

We feel that in order to be effective on safety or any other areas of operational excellence then we must plan our work. We have a two tier planning process on the project. The supervisors conduct a Task Planning meeting each day prior to the start of shift where they discuss the work for the day, share safety concerns and get input from the crew. The crews then break out to their task crews and perform a Job Safety Analysis on each task they perform.

The graph below represents Casey Industrials Journey to Excellence Policy. This policy spells out the main processes that are the bulwark of the Casey Safety Process. Through execution and monitoring of these processes we achieve excellence in safety.
