ELECTROSTATIC PRECIPITATOR REPLACEMENT

Plug and play

At five stories tall and over 1,000 tons, two electrostatic precipitators needed to “plug-in” to an existing power plant structure—replacing the old precipitators. With a great deal of planning, precision and resourceful ideas, we were able to provide a plan that assured quality construction but also made the change over to new precipitators with minimal down time.

Challenge

Down time was not an option for our client. They needed a solution that would install new Precipitators into the existing structure during scheduled outages. The challenge was in the enormous size of the precipitator and in the scope of the demolition required.

Solution

The precipitators were preassembled and engineered to fit into the existing plant structure. Through precise design and construction, minimal connection work was necessary. The demolition was also carefully orchestrated to allow for easy roll-in of the new units and quick connection.
